12/16/09 - All 59 First-Half Goals

With no more games left to play until after the holidays, here are all 59 goals from the first half of the 2009-10 season condensed into less than five minutes. This includes all nine goals scored in Mankato this past weekend.

Happy Holidays to everyone! And as always, let me know if there is anything that you'd like to see on the site!

12/11/09 - The Best Goals of the 2009-10 Season So Far

Since I'm home recovering from knee surgery instead of in Mankato with the team, here is a collection of my 10 favorite goals of the season so far. Let me know if you would have ranked them differently!

11/2/09 - Sweep! Sweep!

In honor of Wisconsin's first-ever sweep of Minnesota at the Kohl Center and first anywhere against the Gophers since 2006-07, here is a video with all nine goals scored by the Badgers this past weekend. Enjoy!

10/16/09 -A Litttle UW Hockey Fix

With the team off this weekend, I've added a couple videos to the site to review the first three weeks of the season. First, here is a highlight video with all six goals scored by the Badgers this season, including the three goals from last Sunday's 3-1 win at Bemidji State.

Second, here are all of the goals scored during the Red-White Scrimmage before the season started.

Enjoy!

9/10/09 - 2009-10 Season Preview - Forwards

Today I begin my 2009-10 season preview with a look at the forwards. For those of you who prefer video, here is a collection of clips for each of the returning forwards.

Stay tuned for my preview of the 2009-10 UW defensive corps (or take a video preview by clicking here).

Just 22 days until the season starts!

8/24/09 - USA! USA!

Congratulations to the eight current and former Badgers who were named to the 23-player U.S. National Team roster. With Team USA on the mind, today's post includesUSA-specific individual stats for the past three years.

The naming of the national team also helps lock in the 2009-10 UW squad, so season previews and analysis of the Badgers will be coming soon.

Hockey is just around the corner!

7/16/09 - Jessie Vetter - Highlights and More!

Today's post is all about Jessie Vetter, the best goalie in women's college hockey history and one of the best in college hockey history period. The post includes a career highlight reel for Vetter as well as a goalie stats rating system that I developed and named after her.

7/13/09 - Reliving the 2009 NCAA championship game

Since it's been almost four months since the 5-0 win over Mercyhurst in the championship game, I figured now was a good time to post a collection of the goals from that contest. As you'll often see when I do cutups of goals, I like to start the clip from the point when puck possession was established. That thought process is part of what led to my goal analysis research on the team.

Also, I've added a page with quick links to each of the videos on the site. It can be accessed over in the SideBar on the right and I'll see if I can't also figure out a good permanent spot for it in the main column of the page as well.

7/12/09 - Welcome to wisconsinwomenshockey.pbworks.com

Welcome to wisconsinwomenshockey.pbworks.com! My name is Adam Augustine and this page is designed for fans of the University of Wisconsin women's hockey team. For anyone who has tried to follow the team -- which has played in four straight national championship games and won NCAA crowns in 2006, 2007 and 2009 -- finding highlights and content about the team can be very difficult at times. As a former sports information director for the team, I think I know that problem better than most.

This page is meant to just provide a bit more content for Badger fans. To start with, much of the content will be video compilations from this past season, when the team shattered nearly every team offensive record in the book.

In 2008-09, the UW women's team scored an amazing 207 goals, by far the most in school history. For my first video installment, here are some of the best goals of the 08-09 season. And trust me, I should know - I've been working on a goal analysis project of the team and have studied 130 of the goals in great detail. These are not only some of my favorities because of the storyline behind them, but also because they represent the best style of hockey played by the team all season. Make sure to check out the Top 10 at the end of the video - it starts right around the 2:00 mark!

About the Author

Adam Augustine has spent the past seven seasons working in a variety of capacities for both the men's and women's hockey programs at the University of Wisconsin. During this time he has had the opportunity to go to four Frozen Fours while taking part in two national championships with the women's team (2007 and 2009) and one with the men's team (2006). He has done everything for the Badgers from communications to video editing, broadcasting, statistics, event management and administrative work.

Most recently, Adam spent the past three seasons with the University of Wisconsin women’s hockey program. From June 2006 through May 2008, he served as the primary media relations contact in the Athletic Communications office. This past season he was able to gain more experience in hockey operations as he served as the video coordinator for the women's hockey team. This position allowed him to gain valuable new experience in both video editing and statistical analysis of individuals and teams while working independently on a wide range of innovative data collection and statistical analysis projects pertaining to the on-ice performance of the women’s hockey team.

Prior to his college graduation from the University of Wisconsin in May 2006, he served as the secondary media relations contact for the University of Wisconsin men’s hockey team for two years, including during the team’s 2005-06 run to the NCAA championship. He also worked as a student assistant in the UW men’s hockey office for four years and has been a part of the stats team at both UW men's and women's games for the past seven years.
